She genies my world like a brand new picture book
and whirly winds whiles with her sweet fanciful look.
She runs on life's air with a flushed curtain of breeze
and flings blossoms of hair to twine Spring into trees.
She flirts with accident eyes to slip through her days
and skylarks and summersaults parodies of plays.
She propels parasol joy as she sings and flies
and lunges and pirouettes on powder cream skies.
but
She sometimes thinks I am old and can't really see
and lifts on her wee toes and pretends to be me.
She chooses the largest muffin oozing with joy
and is no cherub child chomping mirth like a boy.
She twists and she turns to play a board cheating game
and throws five dice as she wriggles glee to her fame.
She is Mary Poppins -- the queen of her castle
and my granddaughter all wrapped up in love’s parcel.
