Where shadows dapple dance ’neath woodland trees
a wild and lovely maiden spreads her gown
that rustles quiet in the summer breeze
‘midst butterfly and moth in thistledown
Her petals lay on silken sheets of green
a perfect boudoir for a lover’s tryst
as bashful bluebells hide away unseen
the blushing maiden soon becomes first kissed
The honey bee hums his undying love
as dainty cowslip hides beneath fern’s skirt
a loving sigh comes from the pink foxglove
who is too shy his feelings to assert
A golden sunset glows ‘neath woodland trees
where now a lady smiles on twilight’s breeze
