Unsighted. (Weekend Appeal)

Sleep slipped away as a blade of light,
thin as a razor pierced a crack in the curtains
and neatly bisected her lonely bed.

Another day looked at her disinclination
to leave the past while insubstantial brushes
with real sadness needed no relief.

Packed with hollowness time had stopped,
like a novel with myriad plots to inflate grief
loss was not seen as passing condition.

Lover and soul-mate taken her days were
disintegrating to unsighted dreaming, recall
liked living on the side of past ecstacy.

Helpless the look of a tearful mother who
crept in with coffee and noticed in slits of light
eyes shut tight and wrists seeping blood.

Drink spilt and cup shattered with a first
unbelieving
.
.
agonized
.
.
scream.
