The Best Defense

Postby chaos1214 » Thu Nov 13, 2014 12:13 am

Don't bother with a suit of armor.
Before long, It sustains a dent.
In time, you’ll find your point of view
Correspondingly bent.

You might think it fortification
Against an unexpected blow,
But it restricts both vision and movement;
Makes reaction labored and slow.

Trade protection in, for instinct—
Proficiency at attack will come.
Make yourself, to barking foes,
What they need protection from.

A suit of armor just weighs you down;
There’s no two ways about it.
Instead, give your enemies crucial cause—
To never leave home without it.

Brilliant as always and I am still smiling after reading the twist in the last stanza! A strategic mind is far better and lighter than a clumsy suit of armor for sure Chaos!

i like your thinking Jess, and why weigh yourself down and become cluttered when quick thinking and movement will win the day..

Yes, let the enemy be prepared and arm himself with protection my friend..

An interesting and a meaningful write. We should all be prepared to face whatever comes in our lives .

Another brilliant poem that echoes my opinion too but in a more sophisticated way! Great work as usual Jess!
